Wideners Battlefield j has not appeared on the work tabs since j he finished second to Counterpoint in the D. J. SCHNEIDER— Whose stable is racing in New York stopped off for yesterdays racing at Monmouth Park en route to his Houston, Texas, home. Belmont Stakes, but the War Relic colt is expected to be among those present when the field for Saturdays Shevlin Stakes parades to the post. Battlefield has been seen galloping and it is suspected that he has breezed at Belmont Park during the afternoon since the Aqueduct meeting opened. Trainer Bert Mulholland and Widener have been conferring telephonic ally with regard to a jockey to replace the colts regular pilot, Eddie Arcaro, who will be at Delaware Park to ride Herman Delmans How in the considerably richer New Castle Handicap. During the afternoon Mulholland announced that Ovie Scurlock would ride Battlefeild on Saturday. The other probables in the week-end fixture, a 0,000 test at a mile and a sixteenth under allowance conditions are Greentree Stablands Hall of Fame and Big j Stretch, -Hampton Stables Alerted, Frank : A. Bonsais Mully S., Lazy F Ranchs Out j Point, Phantom Farms Nullify, Albert H. I Warners Loridale, Maine Chance Farms I Colony Date, and Mrs. Frank Frankels Fluid Gold. Hall of Fame won the Kent Stakes at Delaware Park last week, with j Alerted and Mully S. second and third, far behind him. His stablemate, Big Stretch, has failed to approximate his form of last fall, but has been training more kindly since having been schooled over the hurdles.
