DANNY SHEA— Merry Sizzle carried her colors to victory for the third time at the current Delaware Park meeting yesterday. Whips Prince Cole By Length Margin Allen Mare Takes Command Early and Never Is Headed; Merry Sizzle in Neck Score By PALMER HEAGERTY Staff Correspondent DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., June 28. — Outstepping the opposition from just after the start, Anthony Allens Thin Dime, a daughter of Impound — Spare Change, this afternoon registered by one length over Elsmar Stables Prince Cole in the featured event. Another length back came Lawrence W. Jennings Little Harp, with David Neumans favored Curtain Time in fourth position. A bright sun dried out the track rapidly during the early stages of the program ancr Thin Dimes six furlongs in 1:11, flat, caused the chartmaker to advance the racing surface to fast. Thin Dimes victory came as a surprise to the majority of the 10,000 in attendance and she paid 8.60 for .00 Thin Dime displayed speed enough to wrest command early, then outsprinted Curtain Time along the backstretch. Her task was made a bit easier when Little Harp, primarily a speed horse, broke tardily and trailed out of the gate. Givens Rates Mount Well Givens turned in a good job of rating astride the Allen five-year-old and "saved" her nicely for the final test, which enabled her to repel the extended challenge of Prince Cole. Litt/e Harp saved ground to loom a threat from the inside in the early stretch, but the move had taken too much from him and he weakened slightly in the final furlong, as Curtain Time faltered badlv and was beaten almost a half dozen lengths. Circle M Farms Foxey Lad, who dropped down considerably for his engagement in this dash, failed badly and was fifth, beating only R. Roy McClarins Abbottstown, who had trailed from the three-eighths pole. Mrs. Danny Sheas Merry Sizzle, a three-year-old homebred son of Cassis — Owaller, won his third purse of the meeting in the days fourth race and was claimed from the dash by Mrs. Mary Robinson for ,000. Ridden by Antonio J. Fernandez. Merry Sizzle set the pace from soon after the start and lasted by a neck over Joseoh Nechamkins King Watch. Paul A. Sullivans Nassoon was third. The six-furlong spring was completed in 1:1245 and. Merry Sizzle paid .80 as the first winning favorite on the rvrogram. Trainer Thomas A. Kelly sent out Mrs. William E. Snells Black Pepper and Mrs. Kellys First Salvo to finish first and second, respectively, in the six-furlong second race. Black Pepper won by a head in 1:12% with Mike Caffarella the winning rider Danny Sheas White Bones was third. Black Pepper paid 6.50 to win and completed a 58.30 Daily Double for these fans who coupled the entry with Shamrock Stables Tricia Fiske, 3.70 winner of the opener.
