BALTIMORE JIM, in close attendance of the pace under steadying restraint, took command when ready in the stretch and won easily. HYP HOME made the pace until nearing the furlong postr but was no match for the top one while continuing gamely until the end under hand urging. THE SPANIEL was forwardry placed throughout and had no excuse. BROWN DALTON broke slowest, worked his way up between horses and hung in the drive. DISCONSOLATE tired. OUR GAY dropped back quickly after an alert beginning and raced slightly wide. HALCYARA was outrun7"STEEL STRIKE displayed early speed and quit. MY GOOD MAN, allowed" to settle into stride,, made a mild bid when called upon, but was no match for the winner. SUNDANCE KID dropped back after making a poor landing at the eleventh obstacle. A claim of foul against the winner by the rider of HIS DUCHESS was not allowed. The latter made the pace early and dropped back, came again: in" the f inaf sixteenth: mile and just missed. ELIXIR, clear while on the outside and in good position, took command when QUICK FIRE guit and held SPRINGTALE safe under punishment. The stewards ingufred into the running and permitted the original finish order to stand. SPRINGTALE was prominent on the rail throughout and finished with, good courage. LITTLE FALLS lacked room early on the backstretch, bore out and ran wide on the turn, then showed a tendency to bear in through the drive. BLUE HELMEJ had to be cautiously handled while between horses on the turn, made a game bid when clear in the stretch and faltered. EVANS MOUNTAIN was knocked back on the inside nearing the turn. GALLOPING GUS. never far back, lacked a closing rally. PENNANT DAY showed nothing. ARDOCH followed LITTLE FALLS wide on the turn. QUICK FIRE was hustled into a clear lead and came to the inside along the backstretch, then guit badly after a half mile. Scratched 57239 Discreet, 109.
