Eddie Sue Easy Victress Under Madden at Suffolk Both Horses of Entry Ordered Scratched Following Runaways By FRED GALIANI Staff Correspondent SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., May 23. Eddie Sue, F. W, Hoopers homebred daughter of Education, streaked off to a six-length victory in the featured Colonial Purse here today on a card, that was marked by sucqessive runaways. After both horses of. an entry flew the coop with the riders up and. had to be scratched in the fourth race, Old Reliable threw his boy in the feature and held up the proceedings until he finally allowed himself to be caught. Before he went on his jaunt; Duchess Aumar gave the outsider another workout but was nabbed. Eddie Sue, favorite at 1 to 2, had an easy time as she was let loose when, ready and chalked up her second straight easy victory of the meeting. The Hooper miss boosted her stock immeasurably for the coming Bay State Kindergarten Stakes. Closest to the brown filly was L. A. Pieris Cheryl Ann, while C. A. ONeil, Jr,s Air Pine was third. Eddie Sue, who had equaled the track record for four and a half furlongs in her previous outing, ticked off the five panels here today in :59 over the fast track, without being unduly pushed. This was the first time at the meeting that juveniles had traveled that far. Darrell Madden was on the Hooper horse and was winning his second race of the day. Eddie Sue has- won three of eight races, been second the same amount of times and third once. The only time she was unplaced was in a race here when she got away badly. The crowd of 11,282 made her a heavy choice and she was the second one of the day to win thus far. One of the unusual happenings of the turf occurred in the fourth race when both horses of Eddie Legeres entry ran away. King Ranchs Closed Order took Red Keene off on a tear while Leo Valdes had an even more terrifying trip on Keeping Posted. Both ran the full circuit of the course and Keeping Posted, whose bit had slipped, ran dead straight for the outside fence-on the stretch turn, just swinging around in time.
