JUANA raced along with the pace under light restraint, rallied when put to pressure, took command and withstood the challenge of SCHOLARSHIP. The latter, unhurried early, swung to the outside on the final turn and was closing stoutly at the end. HERESA DREAM raced BE PROUD into submission after a half mile, was unable to draw clear and went evenly through the stretch. KING TAOS, slow to begin, closed ground in the final quarter mile. MR. FLARES had no mishap. DOROTHY G. showed nothing. GILDSIE went evenly. STREAM LADY was never prominent. BE PROUD quit. EQUIPASS was outrun. EMERALD BELLE, forwardly placed on the outside, drifted out on the final turn, but had enough left to make up the lost ground and draw clear. BROWNSKIN opened a comfortable lead soon after the break, saved ground while steadied to the final turn, increased margin, but was not good enough. GREAT MORNING, forwardly placed from the beginning, held on gamely. SUN BUD caught tiring horses. FIGHTING LQU IE weakened early. WARDRIL lacked early speed and failed to make up appreciable ground with a late rally. STAR SPOT broke alertly, dropped back suddenly and was unable to make up lost ground. DUKES BOY tired. BEST DEGREE opened a comfortable lead in the first quarter mile, maintained the advantage until the stretch, then held on stubbornly while shortening stride. TRUCHA lacked a closing rally. LIEUTENANT made up ground from off the pace. WAR TORO broke alertly, but was unable to keep up. DADDY O. closed with good energy. PHIL HARRIS showed nothing. PORTENTOUS weakened after a half mile. ANDYS PRIDE improved her position gradually, reached the leader inside the final furlong and drew out under urging. FLASHY, very sluggish in the early stages, was put to a steady drive through the final quarter mile and closed with good energy. SWEET PRYME caught tiring horses. PSYCHOGENIC opened a long lead soon after the start, kept his speed for five furlongs and quit badly. WHERESTHEFIRE had no mishap. POWER THRILL went along in closest attendance of the leader for a half mile and tired. DOWN HEARTED quit. J-TOWN ARAB flashed brief speed. The others were outrun. KEEPING POSTED AND CLOSED ORDER, AN ENTRY, BOTH RAN OFF A MILE BEFORE THE RACE AND WERE ORDERED SCRATCHED. ALL MONIES WAGERED ON THE ENTRY WERE REFUNDED. AIR PINE had speed from the beginning, swerved into ANNE BONNY on the turn, recovered quickly, loomed as a threat when moving on the outside in the stretch, then ducked to the inside. PAPA CHARLIE went evenly. ANNE BONNY was taken up sharply on the far turn, bothered COUNT, TWENTY, then went evenly. DUCHESS AUMAR had no mishap. MR. CURTISS was never prominent. COUNT TWENTY was going evenly when bothered and was not persevered with through the stretch. OLD RELIABLE UNSEATED HIS RIDER AT THE GATE, RAN OFF FOR ABOUT SIX- FURLONGS AND WAS ORDERED SCRATCHED. WATCH UNION was hustled between horses to gain an early lead, drew clear after a half, drifted out when pressed and prevailed over WENTWORTH. The latter moved into a contending position on the final turn, forced his way between horses and just missed. CHARING ROCK, in hand on the outside near the leaders, moved to engage for the lead, was ridden close by the winner and faltered. LONE PILOT raced close to the pace and showed a good effort. MR. A. B. was close up and held on well through the stretch. LIMASOL was full of run at the end. SUN RUSHER flattened out badly. DANCE BAND showed nothing. FREE LUNCH was outrun. ALAIRNE caught tiring horses. THERMILLES, steadied for five furlongs, failed to respond when put to a drive. SATURDAY, fractious at the post, moved up on the outside after a half mile, then flattened out. WELL WELL showed nothing. COUNT CHRIS went evenly. MON TORCH failed to rally when roused.
