Norman McDuffie Pate, Well Known at New YorkTracks, Dies BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y., May 23. Norman McDuffie Pate, 38, widely known messenger at all New York tracks and at Hialeah Park died of a heart attack at his New Gardens, N. Y., home last night. His sudden passing came as a shock not only to his friends but also the, racing colony. He was born in Hawkinsville, Ga., but was raised in Miami, having resided there practically all his life. He had a home at Coral Gables, Fla. During his school days, he had ben honored as the Florida all-state quarterback, having played football under the regime of Jess Yarborough, now county commissioner of Dade County. His body is resting at Walter B. Cook funeral parlor, 150-10 Hillside Ave., Jamaica. It will be shipped" to Miami for interment. The deceased is survived by his widow, Margaret Edith,- a daughter, Susan; a son, McDuffie; his mother, Nina Pate and a brother., Glenmore.
