Rush Hour Making His First Local Appearance Coburn Pacer Has Atomic Might, Dale Wingay to Beat at Maywood MAYWOOD PARK, Maywood, 111., May 23. Actor Charles Coburns brilliant pacer Rush Hour will make his first appearance before Chicago harness racing fans tomorrow night in the ,500 divided feature pace at Maywood Park. Jack Rodman will pilot Rush Hour in a field of six free-for-all pacers in the fifth and eighth races, both at one mile. With two victories at Santa Anita, including a blistering 2:00 mile, to his credit Rush Hour is preparing for the 0,000 Chicago Pacing Derby, June 20. Opposing the Coburn pacer will be the best talent the Chicago-area has to offer, including Atomic Might, Thomas Hat, Gallant Song, Chief Mite, arid Goose Island. All but Goose Island are Derby candidates. Atomic Might, owned by Otis Anderson of Lafayette, Indif has the fastest mile of the, current meeting, 2:04, under its belt. But that mark will be in jeopardy tomorrow. Thomas Hat, in his Maywood debut last week, whipped Atomic Might by half-a-length in 2:05. Owned by Paul Wixom of Chicago, Thomas Hat ranks a slight overnight favorite off that performance. Both Goose Island, owned by William Paisley of Western Springs, and Chief Mite, owned by W. E. Farmer of Findlay, Ohio, will be looking for their third victories of the spring season. C. F. Rumleys Dale Wingay, from Princeton, HI., will try to improve his fine 1952 record in the ninth race, a ,000 A-class mile pace. Dale Wingay has captured five of eight starts to date, going the mile as fast as 2:07. Most of the competition is expected from Tempered Volo, a winner in its only start, and Doctor Cooper, highly rated Derby candidate which finished fourth, in its Maywood debut Wednesday night. Completing the seven horse field are Mr. Dale, which draws the pole, Scottish Boy, Richard D. Grattan, and Marcellus.
