J. MURPHY ARLINGTON PARK, Arlington Heights, 111., June 17. — No less than 20 two-year-olds have been entered to try for the honors in the tenth running of the 5,000 Primer Stakes here tomorrow. They represent 18 different interests, although there will be four couplings. Dean Cavy and Happy Carrier, who finished first and second, respectively, in the Joliet Stakes at the Lincoln Fields meeting are one pair, Dean Cavy racing for Mrs. E. M. Veeneman, and Happy Carrier for her husband, William H. Veeneman. Ace Destroyer and Yea Bama will sport the silks of Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Daniel, Wildcat Sam and Oil Gusher will perform for Sam E. Wilson, Jr., and Blenriam and Mighty Moment will be running mates as both are trained by Milton Resseguet. The latter is owned by Resseguet, and Blenriam by Harry Allsman. Among the others are Red Speed, a son of Count Speed, who will be making his first start outside of California and will carry the colors of B. W. Landy; Fred W. Hoopers Brookhaven, who won his only start in this territory on Lincoln Fields closing card; Fiddle, in from Detroit to represent Mrs. E. E. D. Shaffer; Ebony, winner of his only start, who will race for L. L. Haggin H.; Mrs. Ada L. Rices Mr. Paradise, winner of his first start at Santa Anita; Mrs. Emil Denemarks Bill Burke, who recently graduated at Hawthorne, and H. N. Eads Sir Mango, winner of his last two races. King Pin Third in National Stallion Also in the field are Hal Price Headleys King Pin, who last out was third in the National Stallion colt division at Belmont; Mrs. H. G. Bockmans Prince Mar-" que, a winner at Keeneland; Shady Brook Farms Satterley, who was victorious during the Lincoln Fields session; Mrs. O. S. Dem-ings Thaxter, also a winner over the Hawthorne course, and O. H. Pohlmans Brown Ariel, who was favored over Brookhaven in his last out at Hawthorne. It may be that the post of favoritism will be enjoyed by either King Pin, the Veeneman entry, or the Daniel entry, the latter on the strength of Ace Destroyer. King Pin is a son of Menow, and he was a third to Tahitian King and Romantic Roman, two of the best youngsters in the East, in the National Stallion. He had previously been third to a couple of other good youngsters, Continued on Page Three Primer Engages Twenty Juveniles at Arlington Dean Cavy-Happy Carrier Entry Faces Strong Opposition Today Continued from Page One Count Trim and Centime, at the same track. He was unplaced to Ace Destroyer in a division of the Bashford Manor Stakes. Ace Destroyer had started five times before his Bashford Manor win. The son of Grand Admiral made his first appearance at Oaklawn Park and was successful. He was then unplaced three times before finishing second to Happy Carrier in the Lafayette Stakes at Keeneland. He will be ridden by Tommy Barrow, Detroits leading reinsman, who is coming in especially for the mount. Happy Carrier, after taking the Lafayette, was third to Ace Destroyer in the Bashford Manor, and second to Dean Cavy in the Joliet, but was recently unplaced when odds-on favorite in a dash won by Sir Mango. Dean Cavy, who was third to Dark Star in the Juvenile at Hialeah, has won his last three starts. Brookhaven started off well enough in being second to Dark Star in the Hialeah Juvenile and defeating Emardee, who later won a division of the Rosedale at Jamaica. The son of Brookfield then trimmed Centime, who was later to win the Christiana Stakes at Delaware Park, but he had been dropped into claiming ranks before being shipped to Chicago. Fiddle has started twice and his best was a third to Dean Cavy and Happy Carrier in the Joliet. #Oil Gusher won his first start of the year and has been unplaced in his last seven starts. Blenriam, Bill Burke, and Thaxter all broke out of the ranks of the non-winners at Hawthorne, while Yea Bama registered his lone victory at Churchill Downs when he beat Sir Mango by five lengths. Sir Mango later won by a like distance at the Downs from Battle King; Satterley graduated at New Orleans last winter; Prince Marque won his first and only purse at Keeneland; Mighty Moment was a double winner at the Pair Grounds, and in one race defeated the stakes-winning Country Mile. Mr. Paradise was badly beaten in his first outing at Jamaica. Although the Primer is open to juveniles of both sexes, not a single filly has been entered. Happy Carrier is the highweight with 122 pounds, while Ace Destroyer, Dean Cavy, and Mighty Moment each have 118; Brookhaven and Sir Mango will carry 115, and the others are in with 112. The Primer closed with 46 nominations. It was won last year by Oh Leo.
