Jeffords Silks DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., June 17. — Mrs. Walter M. Jeffords Ace Card, a stakes-winning filly during her younger years, sent forth another speedy youngster here today in Maabrook, who won the days opener in his first public appearance. Maabrook, who is by Mahmoud, is the fourth foal from Ace Card, the others being Post Card, Yildiz and One Count, each of which has earned quite a name for himself. Maabrook, a strapping bay colt, came well recommended by morning trials and lived up to advance notices by breezing home three lengths in the van of Happy Hill Farms Burnham Wood. Mrs. Ellsworth H. Augustus G-Two was third in the field of the two-year-old maidens. The estimated crowd on this swelteriing afternoon was 9,700. Under the handling of Ronnie Nash, Maabrook raced along the outside during the early stages, bounded clear of the field when straightened for the stretch run and was an easy winner while completing five and one-half furlongs in 1:05%. Maabrook returned .60 straight. Burnham Wood again ran a good race, but was unable tp menace the winner in the closing test. The Blue Sword colt came from far back to outfinish G-Two by a nose, while the latter was just a head before Marlboro Stud Farms American Pilot. Mrs. J. Yancey Christmas Bay Orders completed a 63.30 Daily Double when he led practictally all the way under Art Mon-teiro in the six-furlong second race. Timed 1:11%, Bay Orders held Joe Rosens Lets Dance and Ellis S. Sutliff s Soundings safe pay 2.70 straight.
