j , : 1 I J ! j J Benhadar Seeking Montchanin No. 3 Argentine-Bred Won Second In Series at Delaware Park And Appears Standout Today By PALMER HEAGERTY Staff Correspondent DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., June 17. — Ramon De Legorburus Benhadar, the Argentine -bred nine-year-old who merely toyed with his rivals in last weeks Mont-1 chanin Handicap, seems likely to rule a stout choice tomorrow afternoon in series No. 3 of that event, one which will be contested at the mile and one-quarter distance for a purse of ,500. Named for the 10-furlong running of the Montchanin are the following : Anthony Allens Net Result, who with 116 pounds is six pounds below Benhadar; J. V. Thompsons Monte and R. E. Cudahys I Trust, each with 114; Mrs. Esther duPont Weirs Uncle Don, 109; C. H. Everitts Ball Hawk, 107; E. T. Chewnings Tacaro, 106, and Phil L. Leydeckers Fifty-Five, 105 pounds. Benhadar campaigned in the Argentine during his younger years and was not seen in action in this country until the current year. He was a winner for ,500 at first asking, then was second against similar company. The conditions of the Montchanin read "for three -year-olds and upward which have started for a claiming price of ,500 or less since October 21," so conditions suit him perfectly. He came from well off the pace to win the mile and a furlong running and each additional running should prove to his advantage. Ronnie Nash will again handle trainer Bob Odoms charge. Net Result Runner-Up Lost Week Net Result is another who shipped from New York for last weeks race and he finished in the runner-up spot behind Benhadar. The effort was a good one but there is little chance that he will succeed in reversing the order of finish. Willie J. Pass-more again will handle the reins. Fifty-Five and I Trust finished seventh and ninth, respectively, in last weeks running and their efforts offered little encouragement to their supporters. Each has won a single purse this season, Fifty-Five against ,000 claimers and I Trust while competing for ,000. Monte has been a fairly capable sort this season, though without a victory in a quintet of starts. In his last appearance he was beaten about five lengths by Midyear and Merry Risk in a race styled for ,500 to ,500 claimers. Tacaro and Ball Hawk boast local victories but hardly rate consideration against tomorrows opposition. The same can be said of Uncle Don, who has raced but once since shipping from Florida, and against hurdle horses on that occasion. In Florida he raced twice, being claimed from trainer Jim Ryan for ,000 and reclaimed by that conditioner for ,000. Princess Doreen, generally regarded as one of our top fillies in the mid-20s, is honored on tomorrows program with the running of the six-furlong fifth race. Naturally enough, the Princess Doreen is limited to three-year-old fillies. In the overnight field are Ladslove, Lady Carolina, Polyvixen, Nimble Myth, Lily M., and Celandine.
