I j I 1 j j [ I Solomon Foundation Pace Draws Crack Field of Six Maige Mc Will Be Trying for His Tenth Win of Season at Maywood MAYWOOD PARK, Maywood, 111., June 17. — Six of the most consistent winners of the season will match strides tomorrow j night in the Solomon Foundation Pace at Maywood Park. The race will honor the foundation named for Dr. Jerome D. Solo-J I mon, a young army major who died in World War II. About 2,000 of the social membership of the Foundation, which is active in cancer and polio research in Chicago, will attend the races, led by the officers of the group, Dr. J. Lester Wilkey, Dr. Karl Meyer, and Arthur Morse. The six starters, who will go a mile in the seventh race, boast 31 victories among them for the young season. Nine of these belong to Maige Mc, a four-year-old Eton colt owned by H. A. Meyer of Plymouth, Wis., and driven by Don Busse. Maige Mcs nine victories lead the nation. Opposing Maige Mc will be Josedale Double Hal, Phil Abbey, Chief Wingay, Selka Mc, and True Jay. True Jay, owned by Dave Taddeo of Melrose Park, will be in quest of his eighth success in 14 starts and will be driven for the first time by young Gene Riegle. Selka Mc, entered by the Cox and Mc-Lernon stables of Marengo, has been in the money in each of her nine starts. The four-year-old Mc-I-Win mare has a pair of Maywood stake victories to her credit. Equally impressive is the record of Chief Wingay, who has captured three of six starts and earned second money in the other three efforts. Shepard Farms Josedale Double Hal will be shooting for his fifth win of the season and third in a row. The Chicago-owned pacer will start from the pole position with Gene Burright driving. Most improved horse in the line-up is Phil Abbey, owned by Arthur T. Gait of Chicago. Able to win only one of his first eight races, Phil Abbey has captured his last two starts since acquiring the driving services of Red Scott. Scott, a veteran pilot from Springfield, has almost clinched his second Maywood drivers championship. Eight highly regarded two-year-olds will get their first taste of stake competition in the third race, the ,000 Northern Illinois colt pace. Making up the field will be Selka Dale, Mighty Chief, Manuscript, Springbrooke, Pretty Penny, Rosemary Court, and the favored Edgar Leonard entry of Black Haven and Knight Abbe.
