Mae Murray Only American Left in British Amateur TROON, Scotland, June 17 UP.— Tiny Mae Murray waded through high winds and ; an avalanche of tumbling compatriots today to become the sole American survivor . for the quarter finals of the British Womens Amateur golf championships. But even for this plucky Rutland. Vt., miss the future is bleak. Tomorrow she plays Jean Bisgood, the Britisher who crushed her, 6 and 5, in last weeks ill-fated Curtis Cup series. Three Americans tumbled to defeat in todays two gruelling rounds on the wind battered Troon course. Claire Doran of Cleveland, Ohio, and Polly Riley of Forth Worth, Texas, survived the morning third round, only to suffer lickings in the afternoon fourth round. Mrs. Frank Goldthwaite of Fort Worth didnt do that well. She lost in the third round.
