MAABROOK raced on the outside and, forwardly placed, assumed command without need of pressure and won with speed in reserve. BURNHAM WOOD raced well from far back, but was no match for the winner. G-TWO was hard pressed for the lead and gave way. AMERICAN PILOT dueled for the lead into the stretch and quit. BAMBOO caught tired horses PRIVATEER could not keep up. MR. HURRY was through early. SOUNDINGS raced forwardly placed and continued on gamely. FAITHS PRINCE was always formidable and held on willingly. GALLALAD lacked a sufficient rally. ROMANTYPE was sluggish early and failed to enter contention when clear along the inside RACE TANDEM gave way badly, as did BACK FIRE. JOLIRAB was through early. CLEF fenced well while racing in contention, disposed of MAGICAL and won easily. MAGICAL held a slight lead after twelve jumps, was no match for the winner, but was the only other contestant to finish. ASTRONOMER was carried off the course by MAHATMA nearing the ninth jump, came back after by-passing two obstacles, then finished in front of the field. MAHATMA bolted off the course on the inside nearing the ninth jump. BRIMFUL fell at the third jump. STANDOWN lost rider at the second jump. Scratched— 54161 Beaupre, 142. VALS KID saved ground while following the pace and was unable to menace the winner while rallying. BIG SWEET failed to make up ground while catching tired horses. ROCKY REEF lacked a late sriurt.
