The attendance was "! held downs by several thousand due to the j continued strike of Long Island railroad engineers. ] High Bracket went to the front at the start of the Brighton Beach, with Guard of j Honor being hustled into closest pursuit, ] followed by Nullify, Blue Hills, Mostest and j Out Point. Going down the backstretch, j High Bracket led Guard of Honor by a half , length with Nullify running strongly a . couple of lengths away, while Blue Hills was ■ close fourth.
