Definite confirmation to this effect was received today by Ronnie Stewart, agent for the little Oklahoma rider, who represented him in conferences with Douglas Sekicky, trainer for Mrs. Paul Weyerman. Green will have the mount on Here Me, winner of the ,000 Ak-Sar-Ben Gov- ernors Handicap on Saturday. June 7. In that engagement, Here Me sprinted the six furlongs in the very creditable time of 1:1035, carrying 112 pounds. The July 5 stake will be over a longer route, one mile and a sixteenth. According to Stewart, Green has ob- tained permission from his contract em- ployer in New York to ride here on July 4 also, when he will have the mount on Curtain Raiser in the ,000 Omaha Han-10 dicap over six furlongs. Curtain Raiser is owned by F. W. Bourck of Plattsmouth. Nebr., and is trained by Tom Westrope of Harlan, Iowa. Green is well known to racing fans of this area, having been leading rider at Centennial Park in Denver in 1950, fol- lowing his successes at the Omaha meet, when he was top rider for Earl Beezley. He has ridden many big races since that time, winning the 5,000 added Hollywood Laddie Stakes on Phil D. in 1950. In 1951 he captured the Firenze Stakes at Jamaica on King Ranchs Renew; the Acorn Stakes at Belmont for the same owner on Nothird- chance; the Fashion Stakes at Belmont on Cigar Maid, and a number of other feature events on the New York circuit on Com-1 bat Boots. This is the first time any prominent jockey has flown in to ride certain races at Ak-Sar-Ben, although it is known that similar attempts have been made in the past.
