Sprinters, Mid-Distance Runners in Co-Features Jess Linthicum-Jack the Great, High Trend Top Monmouth Fields MONMOUTH PARK, Oceanport, N. J., June 23. — Interest will be supplied here tomorrow by both sprinters and middle-distance performers, who are gathered in compact fields of six each. They will compete in the fourth and sixth races, respectively, with the entry of G. M. Cohens Jess Lir.thicum and Walter A. Edgars Jack the j Great looming the favorites among the speed merchants, and Samuel Greenf elds High Trend the probable choice in the longer contest. The Cohen-Edgar entry will be saddled by trainer Frank A. Bonsai, who will send out the pair in an attempt to reverse a decision with Raritan Stables Bakersfield, behind whom they finished second and third last week. Jack the Great, who was but a half-length in back of Bakersfield, receives a sizable concession of six pounds from his rival, while any sign of the present dampness in the racing strip tomorrow will work to the advantage of Jess Linthicum, a superior "off"*track runner. The race won by Bakersfield was truly run, and the only important difference expected tomorrow is the change in weights. Each of these rivals will have their same riders back up; Jimmy Stout to handle Bakersfield, Sam Boulmetis on Jess Linthicum and George Hettinger astride Jack the Great. H. H. Polks Rock Heights, who won a good race here on opening day, seems the only one likely to break in among the top three, with Joseph Gavegnanos Blue Lantern and Tara Farms Toy Fox the remaining two starters. High Trend suffered when he swerved at the beginning of his race here a week ago, but raced well to finish third to Thasian Hero and Whisk-Off. Although he may not be quite at his keenest form right now, he is considered to have a little class over the opponents in this mile and a sixteenth sixth test. Mrs. Ruth Oppenheims Penson, lightly campaigned this spring and coming up to this race in excellent condition, probably will be the one to beat. Others are Kenilworth Farms Free Strider, Edward E. Voynows Great Fun, M. R. Schneiders Gay Count and Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Baker, Jr.s Vamanos.
