♦ — _ _ DEDICATING GRAYSON RESEARCH LABORATORY— Walter M. Jeffords and William duPont, Jr., prominent sportsmen and thoroughbred breeders, with Dr. Richard E. Shope represented the Grayson Foundation at the official opening of the Grayson Research Laboratory at the University of Maryland, College Park, recently. Jeffords is president of the Foundation; duPont, a member of the Executive Committee, and Dr. Shope, acting chairman of the Scientific Advisory Committee. The laboratory was erected and equipped for a long-time study of equine influenza and associated respiratory conditions by the Foundation, an association of sportsmen and racetracks formed for the purpose of financing and encouraging scientific research on equine diseases and conditions. Dr. Shope is a recognized authority on virus diseases. From left to right are Dr. Arthur L. Brueckner, professor at the University of Maryland and director of the Maryland Live Stock Sanitary Service, under whose auspices the investigations of the Grayson Laboratory are being conducted; Dr. Thurman S. Grafton, veterinarian with the laboratory; Dr. Shope; Major Walter L. Wallenstein, associate professor at the University of Maryland, who has been investigating the rh-factor in horses; Colonel J. H.
