Report Last Figure in Race Fix Scandal Ready to Surrender TORONTO, Ont., June 23.— The final chapter -in the nefarious scandal which rocked the Ontario racing scene last July at Fort Erie, is about to be written. The only one involved in the race "fix" when North Drive scored who had eluded arrest, John Perron, 24, of New Toronto, Ont., former rider and believed ringleader in the affair, is reported ready to surrender to Provincial police authorities in Welland. Ont., this afternoon. W. E. MacDonald is counsel for Perron and acted for the Ontario Racing Commission in its intense investigation which resulted in the suspension of 10 jockeys and one trainer for life. Perron will face charges of conspiracy to defraud the public. It was only a few weeks ago that Harry "Swabby" Swartz, of Toronto, Ont., was convicted and sentenced for his part in the affair. Swartz pleaded guilty to being a common cheat and was sentenced to three months in jail, plus a fine of ,000.
