Ward Mohs, Barrs Assistant At Umpire School, Drowns PORT GIBSON, Okla., June 23 UP.— Ward Elmer Mohs, for years chief assistant at George Barrs umpire school, drowned with a companion late last night when their fishing boat was sucked into a whirlpool near the Dam Spillway. Witnesses said Mohs was seen swimming in the strong current for several minutes before being sucked under. Sherill was never seen. Mohs body was recovered about 1 a. m. and Sherills was found five hours later. In addition to teaching in the noted Florida school, Mohs had also served as chief umpire of the class D K-O-M League and umpired in the Sooner State League in the same class. Friends said he planned to finish this season as umpire in the Gulf Coast League.
