J. McClure; bred by H. N. Davis. WENT TO POST— 5:17. OFF AT 5:171 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. MR. SYRACUSE, reserved off the pace under steadying restraint until the final quarter mile, closed willingly between horses to take command and had enough left to hold BILLMAN safe. The latter moved to engage for command in the stretch, appeared to hang, then challenged near the end. MON TORCH, outrun most of the trip, closed with a belated rush on the outside. QUEENS TASTE set the pace, turned back repeated bids of RAY K., only to falter through the stretch. RAY K., in hand close to the leader, attempted to go through along the inside at the far turn, was blocked and swung to the outside the last strides, moved back to the inside and after a brief challenge, faltered. THERMILLES had no mishap. Overweight— Queens Taste, 3 pounds. Thermilles claimed by H. Shapiro. NINTH | RACE 1 3-16 MILES. Shut Out, July 4, 1942— 1:55%— 3— 126. MILL POINT, under stout restraint in closest attendance of the leader for six furlongs, moved readily when set down, assumed command entering the stretch and drew out easily. NEWSPAPER opened a comfortable lead, saved ground throughout and, although no match for the winner, was best of the others. HAIR STYLIST rallied mildly on the far turn, then went evenly. DUST SCREEN failed to respond when roused. ROYAL SCOT had no mishap. C0LDEN CLOVER was unable to keep up. MIGHTY MASTER flattened out badly. Royal Scot claimed by Maripet Stable.
