Aspinwall Purse Heads Todays Suffolk Program Royal Duke Faces Six Sprinters; Tint Straws Making Seasonal Bow By AVERY BROWN Staff Correspondent SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., May 13. — Planning ahead for a big weekend, headed by the 0,000 added Governors Handicap, racing secretary "Eb" Pons offers a varied program of nine races for cheaper grade hroses tomorrow, thereby assuring better horses for Saturday. Highlighting tomorrows card is the Aspinwall Purse, an allowance dash at six furlongs for , sprinters, which has attracted seven overnight starters. Under the conditions of the feature, M. . L. F. Stables Royal Duke, a hard hitting sprinter who manages to win his share of races each year, gets the top impost of 119 j pounds. Bracketed at 112 pounds will be W. C. Pricketts The Minor, Eddie Siravos Tint Straw, J. and P. Venutis Argyle and A. Crabbes Hit Parade, O. E. Fosters Clays ! Choice, 105 pounds, and Mrs. Sam Orrs U. S. Navy, 104, round out the field for the Aspinwall. With the exception of Tint Straw, who is making his seasonal bow in the feature, the group of speedsters have been performing before New England patrons since the opening of the season at Lincoln Downs. The affair shapes up as a wide-open event with each contestant figuring to get varied support and Argyle possibly getting the nod as post-time favorite. A five-year-old son of Best Seller, Argyle has proved to be a versatile performer during the past two seasons in New England and his most recent efforts in races of the nature of tomorrows fray are good enough to endorse his chances. Argyles 1953 campaign began at Tropical Park in Miami and, while he has failed to account for a winning purse in nine starts, his consistency cannot be questioned. With the exception of his outing on January 5, Argyle has earned some part of every purse he vied for. Royal Duke, The Minor and Hit Parade boast of the only victories contributed this season by members of the Aspinwall, while the others proved successful competitors last season.
