Apprentice Dick Westphall had his license approved this morning and plans to swing into action in the next few days. The lad, who broke his maiden at Silver Park, on September 14, is under contract to George Stribling. Horsemen, who have seen the youth in action galloping horses in the morning are high on his ability. The veteran booter Stanley Austin, a familiar figure to Ohio racing arrived here this morning from Wheeling Downs. Austin consistently is one of the leading riders here at Ascot Park. Trainers Stanley Lipiec bedded down five horses at Thistle Down this morning. The Lipiec stable is headed by Rapid Robert, who will be conditioned for the Ascot Gold Cup, to be run here on closing day. The Lipiec stable shipped to Thistle Down from Gulf stream Park. For the second day in succession jockey Eddie Plesa has scored a riding triple. Plesa, who was leading rider at Oaklawn this spring now has a healthy lead in that department here at Ascot Park. Plesa now has come home on 21 winners.
