Quintet Tests Stamina In Ak-Sar-Ben Feature Teddytoi, Harvest Point Clash; Good Crowd Witnesses Opener By ART KENNEDY Staff Correspondent AK-SAR-BEN, Omaha. Nebr., May 19 — A small band of routers answered the call in tomorrows feature, at Ak-Sar-Ben, a claiming event at one mile and 70 yards, J for three and upward with a purse of ,000 and named In Salute to visiting conventioneers, the National Association of Municipal ■ Clerks Purse. Although only five , [ entered, they have started this year and are ! rated fit to go all the way. Teddytoi, shipped in from Tanforan t where he failed to score in three outings, , on the basis of last seasons form when he • won three out of 18 starts and was in the money on five other occasions, seems sure : to share public support with Harvest Point. . The latter, a fair sort whose last seasons ; record included only one victory, made most t of his starts then in handicaps and allowances . at Colorado and in West Virginia and I Ohio. He has been out three times this ; year without a score. The others have little « to recommend them. For the balance of the card on Ak-Sar-Bens ■ second day of its 35-day session, , sprinters are in the majority, the first five i races being devoted to them. Opening day at the Omaha mile track t came up to most expectations, with patrons 5 entering the grounds early and forming long lines before the Daily Double windows as soon as they opened. The day dawned 1 fair with no overcast and a brisk breeze ; whipping the flags atop the grandstand. Shortly before post time, clouds banked 1 up to blot out the sunshine and furnish l threat of rain. The track continued to dry out until the footing was good and promised - to be fast before the feature.
