Seven in Ascot Parks Beacon Journal Purse Sea Trader, Oklahoma Kid and Beacon Bound Closely Matched ASCOT PARK, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, May 19. — The Akron Beacon Journal Purse at a mile and one-sixteenth headlines tomorrows nine-race program here at Ascot Park. The Beacon Journal is Akrons leading newspaper and annually a race is named in their honor. The event has drawn a field of seven animals, any one of which may be claimed lor ,000. Those scheduled to start are: Little Less, Sea Trader, Oklahoma Kid, Beacon Bound, Penny Singer, Another Nip, and Just Mamie. Mrs. H. B. Lodges Beacon Bound, to be ridden by Ray L. Hightshoe, figures to go well in here, having a liking to an "off" strip. Beacon Bound has won once since the meeting started when he defeated Biocky B. by four and one-half lengths at seven furlongs. In the early stages of that event the Star Beacon gelding was under restraint, moved up with a bold rush through the stretch, and drew clear in the final sixteenth. He met with misfortune in his last race when he stumbled at the start, almost going down, and was then forced to take the overland route, having nothing left when the real test came. He wound up fourth to Elfish. Sea Trader, six-year-old son of Sea-biscuit and bred by the late C. S. Howard, has shown a liking for the local strip and could take it all in the Beacon Journal. His last race with jockey Stan Austin in I the saddle was excellent. On that occasion he was forwardly placed from the outset, gained the lead on the final bend and then staved off a desperate late rush by Oklahoma Kid, a member of this field. In that race, Oklahoma Kid closed gamely after being allowed to lag in the early going at a mile and one-sixteenth. Off that race the Pete Maxwell colorbearer, who will be ridden by Eddie Plesa, could prove very dangerous.
