Sophomore Filly Event Also Engages Fulvous, Good Call, Belle Nell and Sally Catbird By J. J. MURPHY WASHINGTON PARK, Homewood, HI., Aug. 18. A field of 13 three -year-old fillies is due to face the starter to race the seven furlongs of the 0,000 added Misty Isle Handicap heretomorrow. It will mark the eighth running of the event, and Arab Actress, deemed the best of the class hereabouts, will carry topweight of 124 pounds and will be ridden by jockey William Mc-Kinley Cook. In her last start, Arab Actress, who is owned by Mrs. Henry J. Damm, of Indianapolis, finished third in the Monmouth Oaks, which was won by Grecian Queen, a miss who is generally accepted as the three-year-old filly champion of the year. Arab Actress has compiled a good record this spring in the Chicago area. She was second to Eddie Sue in the Artful and showed an especially good effort. Eddie Sue is in the Misty Isle with 118 pounds and will be ridden by Don Scurlock, while next in line will be Miss Mary V. Fishers Fulvous, who ran a fine race back of Real Delight in the Arlington Matron and will carry 116 pounds. Others in the Misty Isle field are Klutassen and Orofino, who will run as the Clifford Mooers entry; Queen of Cairo, Belle Nell, who will be ridden by Eddie Arcaro and will represent Calumet, and Dear Pat, from Locust "Lawn Farm. Others in Line-Up Also in the line-up will be Mimi Mine, owned by Mrs. Herbert Herff , of Memphis, Tenn.; Good Call, clever filly from Fairway Farm; Lillal, a fleet miss who was recently purchased from Tom Piatt by Warner Jones, Jr.; Sally Catbird, who ran a very disappointing race as favorite here the other day with Arcaro in the saddle; and Belle Rebelle, who was second in her last start. Arab Actress was the winner of the Cleopatra Handicap and in her race in the Monmouth Oaks went one and one -eighth miles to turn in a creditable efforts thereby proving herself to be quite versatile. She beat Mimi Mine and other good ones at the Lincoln Fields meeting, and was the first of her age to finish in the Modesty, which was for distaff runners three-year-olds and upward. Arab Actress was sixth in that race. Eddie Sue, since winning the Artful, scored in a grass race at Washington Park. She was eighth in the Modesty, two notches back of Arab Actress. Eddie Sue has been working well, having recently turned six furlongs in 1:13. Fulvous ran her best race in the Matron. She has since been beaten by Good Call and Sally Catbird in a sprint. Good Call has been quite active this year. She was third in the Artful and has several other good races to her credit. Sally Catbirds last race was very poor, and a victory for her would certainly mean an upset. She was off slowly in the race but made up no ground while racing wide. Belle Nell was a double winner in rather lesser company at Arlington Park, while Lillal has a victory and a second at this session. Mimi Mine has yet to strike her winning stride this season. As has been stated in Continued on Page Forty-Fiye Arab Actress Concedes Foes Weight in Modesty Has Her Arch Rival, Eddie Sue, To Beat at Washington Today Continued from Page One previous yarns, the filly was highly regarded as a two-year-old and may yet come through with a stakes success. She was fourth to Good Call two weeks ago and was fifth in the Artful and sixth in the Cleopatra. Dear Pat, an Illinois-bred, was second in her last start and finished third to Eddie Sue on the grass. Queen of Cairo was third in a race won by Lillal and was second to Breakers in a sprint opening week. It is unusual that apprentices will ride each of the Mooers horses. John Ralph Adams will be on Klutassen and Layton Risley on Orofino. Orofino was fourth at Arlington, and Klutassen sixth opening week.
