Declare Tom Fool From Spa Handicap; One Count Gets 126 SARATOGA, Saratoga Springs, N. Y., Aug. 18. In the absence of Green tree Stables Tom Pool, who was declared along with 14 others of the 39 nominees, Mrs. Walter M. Jeffords One Count has been honored with the top impost of 126 pounds in Saturdays 5,000 Saratoga Handicap. The son of Count Fleet, however, doesnt appear ready for this mile and a quarter, and the Jeffords silks are more likely to be carried by Post Card, 120 pounds, who has been training in fine style. Greentrees One Hitter, who won last years Spa Handicap under 116 pounds, has been assigned 124 this year. This is two pounds more than he carried when beating Putnam Stables Combat Boots somewhat less than an inch in the Merchants and Citizens Handicap at Jamaica on August 1. Combat Boots also picks up two pounds from that race to carry 118, and recently won at a mile and a furlong here after chasing Tom Fool in the Whitney Stakes. One Hitter, who is not of a size to be a good weight carrier, is a likely starter on the week end, although the son of Shut Out usually works a good mile six days or a week before a distance race- and he has not breezed on the main or training tracks for this engagement. What he may have done on Greentrees private training strip is not known. Combat Boots, who is less bothered by the increase in .weights than One Hitter, is. a definite candidate. Complete weights follow: Horse. Wt. Horse. Wt.
