4 Spy Ring in Hazel Marathon" No: 2 Collins Mare After Fourth Score in Row; Task Fleet Among Teh in Test Purse By DON FAIR Staff Correspondent HAZEL PARK, Mich., Aug. 18. The Marathon Handicap Number Two at one mile and three furlongs for three-year-olds and upward and the Test Purse, a six furlongs condition race, exclusively for three-year-olds, will co-feature a splendid program tomorrow afternoon at this popular east side Detroit racing grounds. The Marathon Number Two drew an overnight field of 10 top class long distance performers, while the Test matches nine of the fleeter second-year racers quartered at the local oval. Top weight for the Marathon Handicap Number Two is assigned to Mr. and Mrs. James R. Collins Motor City-owned Spy Ring, who will shoulder a bulky 122 pounds. Spy Ring, a five-year-old mare, the get of Alsab and Hindu Spy, by Discovery, will go after her ninth victory of the year tomorrow and her fourth straight Michigan success. The Collins star, one of the most popular thoroughbreds ever to campaign in the Wolverine State, will have the saddle services of Tommy Barrow in the Marathon Number Two. Raced Well in Florida Spy Ring displayed route-running ability last January when she beat a fair field at a mile and one-half overnights-event at Hialeah, then went on to annex a mile and three - sixteenths race at the same course in February before capturing the mile and five-eighths Endurance Purse at Gulf stream in March.
