Forty-Nine Nominations For Longport at Atlantic List Includes Porterhouse, Errard King, Homestake and By Jeepers ATLANTIC CITY, Mays Landing, N. J., Aug. 18. Four stakes-winning juveniles Llangollen Farms Porterhouse, Joe Gaveg-nanos Errard King, Louis Lee Haggin, n.s Homestake and Allen H. Smiths By Jeepers head the list of 49 youngsters nominated for the 5,000 added Longport Handicap. This six-furlong dash, the inaugural running of which was won last season by Sweet Patootie, will feature the local program on Wednesday, September 2. Porterhouse, a son of Endeavour n., has finished first in four of his five appearances, but was disqualified last Saturday from first position in the Saratoga Special. His previous successes included a pair of ,stakes events the colt division of the National Stallion and Delaware Parks Christiana. In that the New York horses will have returned to the Metropolitan area by the time the Longport is contested, it seems probable that Porterhouse will fulfill his local engagement. Another who could be in this area in time for the Longport is Homestake. The improving two -year-old is currently at Washington Park, at which point he recently accounted for the Woolf Memorial Stakes in impressive fashion. While he was a bit slow in coming to hand, Homestake shapes up as one from whom a great deal will be heard of in future events. Errard King and By Jeepers have accounted for stakes on the New Jersey-Delaware circuit, the first-named having recently won the Tyro, while the latter won the Dover Stakes at Delaware Park. Errard King came back from his Tyro victory to turn in a rather disappointing effort in the Sapling. He has, however, trained in splendid fashion since that defeat. Another highly-fancied two - year - old nominated for the Longport is Darby Dan Farms Clear Dawn, a Heliopolis filly who may be the quickest lassie in this sector. She was a four-length winner over the track in 1:10. There is a chance, however, that she will be shipped to Washington for the Princess Pat on August 26, which would just about eliminate her from consideration in the Longport. x The complete list of nominations to the Longport follow: Affrighted Iron Heel Proctor Alakatch Is Yours Rejane Barclay.
