Hasty House Nominates To Hawthornes Bidwill Ruhe, Inseparable, Oil Capitol Named for September 12 Stake CICERO, 111., Aug. 29. Mr. and Mrs. Allie Reuben, of Toledo, Ohio, and their Hasty House Farm horses will continue their flirtation with Lady Luck and their quest for further laurels during the Hawthorne fall meeting which opens on September 8, following the Labor Day closing at Washington Park. Hasty House, Farm will lose no time in opening its assault on Hawthornes 10-stakes program. Today Saturday was the zero hour for making nominations for the first of the Hawthorne stakes, the 0,000 Charles W. Bidwill Memorial Handicap, to be run on the first Saturday of the meeting, September 12. Among the early nominees were Hasty House Farms Ruhe and Inseparable, and Oil Capitol, owned jointly with Mrs. Harry Trotsek, whose husband trains the Hasty House horses. Oil Capitol won the one and one-eighth mile Bidwill last year, his stablemate, Ruhe, finishing second. In winning the sixth running of the event, Oil Capitol established a new track record, :VA9Ys, lopping off one-fifth of a second from the old record hung up by the late John Coughlins Karl Eitel in 1929 and equalled only twice thereafter, by Plucky Play, in 1931, and Volcanic, winner of the Bidwill in 1949. Oil Capitol had finished second in the 1951 renewal of the Bitdill, won by Mrs. Myrtle McCabes Mr. Fox in a surprising upset. Oil Capitol had Inseparable as a running mate that year, the Hasty House entry being favored at slightly better than even money. Last year, Oil Capitol and Ruhe were the public choice at 4 to 5. The Bidwill attracted 10 starters in both 1951 and 1952, and nine went to the post when Hasty House Farms Seaward beat the Walmac Farm stallion, Volcanic, in 1950, with the winners stablemate, Inseparable, finishing third. There were 11 starters when Volcanic won the Bidwill in 1949, the first and only successful one of his three attempts at this stake. He finished sixth behind Oil Capitol and Ruhe last year. Volcanics handsome stablemate, Billings, suffered his only defeat of the Hawthorne meeting in 1948, when he conceded 27 pounds to Oration. That winner was owned by Norman Church, who had owned the "giant killer," Plucky Play. Hal Price Headleys Plumper beat 11 others in winning the inaugural running of the Charles W. Bidwill, which honors the memory of a Chicagoan who was identified with many sports enterprises.
