Kohout Reports Amicable Conference With Ellis WASHINGTON PARK, Homewood, 111., Aug. 29. Joseph Kohout, vice-president of the central division of the HBPA, announced that an amicable conference was held Thursday, August 27, between James C. Ellis, president of the Dade Park Jockey Club and HBPA representatives E. H. Mc-Mahon, secretary-treasurer, and R. B. Cameron, executive committeeman and Dade Park HBPA committee. The discussion L related to the substantial increase in mutuel I play which has developed at Dade Park, after installation of the new tote and other I 1953 improvements. It was mutually agreed that purses deserved a substantial increase. Ellis authorized an immediate increase of 00 a day. In o.rder to make this years purse distribution comparable to that of last year, in 1 terms of percentage of track "take" from 1 the mutuel handle distributed in purses, negotiations are in order, Kohout stated,-to make this daily increase retroactive to first k day of the meeting. Improvements on the ; back side will be in conjunction with future ; expansion of Dade Park, Kohout said.
