The latter, in the first flight from the start, responded gamely to urging and was getting to ,the winner. Nazareths foul claim for alleged interference by MORO through the stretch was not allowed. FAN SONG opened a clear lead soon after the start and then faltered. NIEMBRO CUE lacked a rally. ZAYNA raced evenly. ROCKABYE MARY was never a factor. BOB STEWART showed nothing. GAMBETTA was well in hand while racing in closest attendance, moved to the outside of ROYAL INDIAN in the early stretch and, after wresting command, easily drew out. The latter moved from the inside to gain the lead a few strides after the start, held on gamely through the stretch, but was not good enough. BETA RAY dropped back somewhat after a good start and then improved her position while along the inside through the late stretch. TOP FAIR lacked a sufficient rally. FUSSY LADY could not keep pace. LOT-O-BIM raced evenly for the most part. ERUPT showed little. AMITY HALL was never a factor. SET CABLE showed nothing. OUR ONLY ONE was through when the real racing began.
