NIGHT BAKER, never far back of the slow early pace, was roused to reach closer contention approaching the far turn, then responded to intermittent punishment and outgamed WINNING COUNT in the stretch drive. The latter raced to the front under a strong pull rounding the first turn, was overstrongly rated to a slow early pace and remained in hand into the stretch, then could not withstand the winner when placed under punishment. BROKEN PROMISE raced in climbing fashion, being outdistanced early, responded when punished rounding the far turn and picked up speed, then circled the field and finished with a rush. CENTENAIRE broke rather poorly and was rated off the pace, then closed determinedly in the stretch drive. BLAZING HOME set an . even pace and faltered when punishment was changed from right to left hand. FULL BROTHER was slow to settle into best stride, made a mild run at the far turn, then weakened.
