Hstv Three-Horse Sill Mars Rockinghams Card Jockeys Not Seriously Hurt, But Mayer and Martin Go to Hospital By AVERY BROWN Staff Correspondent ROCKINGHAM PARK, Salem. N. H., June 19. — A nasty spill niarred the program at Rockingham Park this afternoon but, luckily, the three boys who hit the turf were not seriously injured. The incident happened in the fourth race, a five-furlong dash in which eight two-year-olds competed. Entering the stretch, the favorite, H. W. Patricks Days Duke, had displaced I. Cowans Six Bills as the leader as the pair straightened out for the run to the wire. T. I. Harkins Mr. Perfect, meanwhile, was giving jockey Gene Martin a rough time until straightened away for the run through the stretch. It was at that point that Six Bills began tiring and Me Perfect appeared to run up on the wheels of the Cowan colt. The Faultless* filly fell heavily tossing Martin to the ground. Directly behind the fallen pair, Greenbrier Stables Pollys Ace, jinmvn displayed early speed in the event, was out slightly but in the path of the unfortunate Pollys Ace and after Vernon Bush tried to yank up the head of the Super Duper colt, he was seen catapulting through the air and landed partially on his feet. The colt then hit the scrambling two-year-olds and went down. Mayer and Martin remained prone as Bush quickly arose to his feet and went to their aid. Moved to the Bon Secour Hospital in Methuen, Mass., Martin and Mayer were reported that neither had been seriously injured. Days Duke went on to win the event by three lengths with Six Bills taking the place a head before J. H. Carrs Double Choice, who had driven up on the extreme outside and missed the spill. Days Duke was timed in :59% and paid .80 to be-n£jyeetoeju
