RECLUSE, unhurried while closest to the pace, assumed command and drew clear on the final turn and was mildly urged while holding DELOVE safe. The latter improved his position steadily and was getting to the winner: DEHRA DUN made up ground in the late stages. SIR STAKE was responsible for the pace and faltered. BOLD WARRIOR showed nothing. TRENTON SAND set the pace from the start and increased his advantage under continued mild urging through the stretch. RACE TANDEM was always formidable, but could not reach the pacemaker. STAR PRINCE rallied too late. CABLE BUG raced evenly. PELELIU dropped far out of contention, raced extremely wide while rallying and made up considerable ground. PROMPTNESS lacked a response. DOLL FOOT displayed speed and quit. BOFUS was never a threat. SOLAR BID was a factor through the opening half mile and faltered badly. COUNT BREEZE held a forward position from the start and was strongly urged to score over INTHESWIM. The latter moved menacingly in early stretch, swerved slightly to the outside, then responded well when again settled for the drive. PUPPET improved his position steadily, but could not get to the top pair. CHALLA ROCK raced WHATATOY into defeat in early stretch and weakened. WHATATOY was hard pressed for command and faltered. NONA BELLE retired early, as did SILVER BLUE.. CHIMED HOUR WAS WITHDRAWN DURING THE POST PARADE WHEN THE STEWARDS WERE NOT COMPLETELY SATISFIED WITH HIS IDENTIFICATION.
