CHILOG, prominent from the start, attained a short lead midway on the backstretch and under strong handling held off EXCURSION at the end. The latter saved ground along the rail position to reach contention and just misse"d getting up in the last stride. BURNHAM WOOD, close to the pace from the start, moved on the outside to attain the lead in midstretch and faltered in the final sixteenth. KAYS CHILDREN was outrun and failed to rally. CLASSY CHANCE could not reach contention. HIGH TREND was forced wide on the first turn, moved up on the stretch turn and weakened in the final drive. EMERGENCY FREE was never a factor.
