A. Seriesi - 7--S oF THE horse jP m Tiie principal involvements of the ankles are osselets and sesamolditis. An osselet is a fibrous swelling, usually on the front surface of the fetlock Joint. Osselets may develop calcium deposits. These growths can become quite large and may result in a mechanical stiffness of the joint. Sesamoiditis is an inflamation of the sesamoid bones— two little bones beneath the ankle joint. A severe or unusual strain can bring about an inflamation which may cause an ulceration or roughening of the bone surfaces. Fractures of the sesamoids are common. To differentiate between sesamoiditis and a fracture, it may be necessary to X-ray the Joint. iTt ... : ■ NEWTOWN PIKE jw—i LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY rhone2-«551 . . . .
