Won driving; second and third the same. MISS BOXER steadily Improved her position to the stretch, disposed of TANGLED JOE and settled for the drive with a clear lead, but was vigorously handled thereafter to withstand MAIDS LIGHT. The latter, outrun to the stretch, finished strongly in the middle of the track, but could not reach the winner. BUTCH WOOD closed fairly well under punishment. DISCHARGE had early speed, but failed to rally when set down through the stretch. NIGHT CABLE raced wide. CALM BAY, away sluggishly, saved ground while working way forward to the stretch, was sent to the outside thereafter and, finishing fast, won with speed in reserve. WAR NIMBUS took an early lead, settled for thedrive with a clear margin but could not stay with CALM BAY. ISIT CASH saved ground entering the stretch but could not better her position when set down in the drive. DEEP BLUE began fast, dropped back after the start and was unable to reach serious contention. JOLISAM was outrun. BOLTON had brief speed. BIDANDMADE could not keep up after beginning alertly. STORM BIRD steadily worked way forward to the stretch, was sent to the middle of the track for the drive and, finishing fast under vigorous urging, was up to dispose of TALION in the last strides. The latter took an early and long lead, settled in the stretch with a clear margin and held on determinedly, but could not withstand STORM BIRD, although easily best of the other?. STEAMBOAT BILL lacked early speed and was unable to seriously threaten the top pair when set down in the drive. WINNING began sluggishly, made a mild bid approaching the stretch, then tired. COLETOWN MAID had a rough race. ENGAGE ME was outrun and had no mishap.
