Chicago Bears File Second Suit in Canadian Grid War The Chicago Bears filed a suit for 50,-000 damages against the Hamilton Tiger-Cat football club of the Canadian Professional league, and its general manager and head coach, Carl M. Voyles, the club announced here yesterday. The suit was filed in federal court at Miami, Fla., the Bears office said. The suit charges that the Hamilton club and Voyles "willfully and maliciously induced one of its linemen, James F. Demp-sey, to disregard his contract with the Bears for the coming season, and to sign a contract with the Hamilton club." The Bears claimed that Hamilton and Voyles "conceived and put into practice an unlawful scheme to raid its the Bears squad, by attempting to induce other Bear players to breach their 1954 contracts." Dempsey, a veteran linebacker, joined the Bears in 1950 after starring at the University of Florida. The Bears said no effort will be made to enjoin Dempsey from playing in Canada, but that a 5,000 suit was also filed against him for breach of con- tract. It was the second suit in 10 days the r Bears have brought against Canadian professional football teams. The Bears filed a suit for 00,000 damages against the Calgary team on charges of stealing Bears player Eddie Macon.
