JUDGE S STAND CHAms HATT0N ARLINGTON PARK, Arlington Heights, 111., June 25. The season here on Chicagos north side opened auspiciously with a record-breaking attendance and is favored with even more "box office" Saturday, when Hasty Road appears in the featured Warren Wright Memorial. This seven furlongs dress rehearsal for the Clas sic will mark the striking bays first appearance since capturing the Preakness. Training reports are favorable, however, and we expect that he will be a confidently backed choice, despite topweight of 124 pounds. He is nowhere more popular than in this area, and at the moment he ranks with Determine and High Gun as one of the leading candidates for the seasons honors in his division. There still exists some skepticism if the son of Roman is a genuine stayer, in the generally accepted sense of the term. But certainly he is brilliant up to a mile, and he has so much pluck that he is no colt with whom to take liberties at our "classic" route of a mile and a quarter. AAA Both the Wright and the 00,000 added Classic of a flat mile afford Hasty Road the opportunity of making the most of his extreme speed. Even though there are disparities in the weights in Saturdays feature, it will come as a major upset if the Hasty House colt is debited with defeat. His principal adversary appears to be Has-seyampa, who was the Derby and Preakness third, and who gets into this event with a weight pull of eight pounds. There still are those who theorize this son of Alibhai would have won the second of the "Triple Crown" races with a bit more of what is politely called racing luck. As we saw the race, he might have been closer ex- Hasty Road Lends Box Office to Wright Meets Hasseyampa at Weight Disadvantage Agas Saratoga Consignment Bluebookish Lot Royal Hostess Prospect for Filly Features cept for being pinched off. But then, he was in. position of being fouled because he was outrun, if we may say so without appearing uncharitable. It will be interesting to note how he fares in the Wright, with the cards stacked in his favor in the weights. AAA It is going to be interesting, and, we suspect, rather impressive to note how the Aga Khans consignment of 20 colts" and four fillies is received by yearling shoppers at the Spa. We have at hand a list of these and can jsay that they far surpass his previous consignments appealon the score of bloodlines. The colts include a bay by Tudor Minstrel, out of Tulyars sire Neocracy, whom we saw as a foal in Ireland. Nesbit Waddington, then managing the stud, described him as the largest foal the mare had produced up to that time. Tudor Minstrel did not stay, of course, but Neocracy is bred stoutly as. any mare sent to him, jwhat with crosses of Nearco and Blandford superimposed on an indefatigable Irish family, that of Trigo. If only he has a leg on each corner, we expect this colt will excite some spirited bidding. Another who will appeal to pedigree pundits is the chestnut by Nearco, out of Majideh, a daughter of Mahmoud. As you may know, this one is an own brother of the Irish and English Oaks heroine, Masaka, so that he is at least bred right. Then there, is a bay Royal Charger colt out of the Mahmoud mare Clovelly that will hardly go begging in the ring, reflecting upon the form of Turn-to and Royal Serenade. Very definitely not "gift wrapped" are two gray colts by Palestine, who is of the same modish color. Among the fillies is a bay by Le Petit Princes sire, Prince Bio, out of a Foxhunter mare, who hardly can fail on the score of stamina. Another of this gender is a brown by the popular Bois Roussel, out of Trimness, by Trimdon. iBois Roussel was a surprise winner of the English Derby, but he is out of Plucky Leige and authenticated his Epsom form in the stud. AAA Coming here for the local two-year-old filly stakes is Herman B. Delmans Royal Hostess, who was a recent winner on the occasion of her second appearance under colors at Monmouth Park. Royal Hostess was a 5,000 yearling and is a daughter of Alibhai and Boudoir U., by Mahmoud. If the ancestry sounds familiar this makes her a sister to Your Host, and a half-sister to the good filly Flower Bed. Of course, the cross also resulted in Determine, and we suppose that if Royal Hostess now proves top class we shall hear again from the nicks and affinities cult of pedigree students. Delman has never raced a particularly large string, but on the whole, his venture has been largely successful. The filly How was distinctly -top class, winning the Kentucky and CCA Oaks, and she now is among the most desirable prospective broodmares in Central Kentucky. One hears that sums ranging as high as six figures have been offered for her. " AAA Turf ana: The Classic this season is expected to net its winner a cool 00,000. . . . Ben Lindheimer is personally stage-directing this meet. . . . The minor awards in a number of future stakes here are 0,000 second, 5,000 third and 0,000 fourth, which seems to us exemplary in events grossing more than 00,000. . . . Darius 2,000 Guineas was worth actually about 6,-990. . . . Canadas R. J. Speers has been first or second on the Dominion breeders list virtually every year since 38. . . . There will be 363 colts and fillies in Keene-lands summer sales catalogue, 42 more than last season. . . . Chevation is unsurpassed by any of the Alibhais on the score of photogenic appearance. ... The Royal Charger colt Mrs. George Greenhalgh will offer at the Spa already has been named Golden Charger.
