WINNING COUNT, closely followed the inner rail throughout, found room to challenge when urged on the fianl turn and, after gaining a short advantage over IRON HEEL, continued determinedly to garner the decision. IRON HEEL was under -steady pressure setting the pace, drifted a trifle wide into the stretch and was displaced, then gamely attempted to come again. STORMY PETREL gave an even effort and finished well. COASTAL LIGHT, probably much the best, crouched at the break and left the gate several lengths last, raced along freely to the stretch, then came to the middle of the track and closed fast under strong urging. IFABODY and TIERCEL were used up early. EIGHTH RACE 1 1r16 MILES. Reveille, July 1, 1950 1:43 4 112. Purse ,000. 3-year-olds. j -j Claiming. Non-winners of two races since May 28. Weight, 122 lbs. IRISHFORLUCK was lightly urged while gradually improving position, appeared beaten when unable to stay with HANDILY through the early stretch, but continued evenly and caught that tiring filly in the last yards. HANDILY outsprinted contention after a half-mile and opened a commanding lead, increased her advantage when urged entering the stretch and appeared safely in front, but suddenly flattened out. JEANOC, eased back after the start, rallied mildly to best tiring hones. EVAS WAR had no mishap. IRISH ADMIRAL gave a dull effort. ALPIN0. was outdistanced from the beginning.
