Cable Jack and DeSpirito Successful Pair at Salem Stewards Refuse to Let Tony Beg Off Riding Spinelli Colt ROCKINGHAM PARK, Salem, N. H June 25. Tony DeSpirito begged off J. Spinellis Cable Jack in the seventh race at Rockingham today, but the stewards ruled against the boys request and consequently Cable Jack was the recipient of one of Tonys fine rides and came on to win the featured Jackson Purse by a half length. R. R. Damons Hat Box finished second in the six-furlong dash a length and a half before the favored Dr. Hab from the barn of M. and I. Prickett. The triumph gave DeSpirito a triple for the day and brought a loud round of Bronx, cheers from a majority of the 5,496 fans on hand. Time for the dash was 1:11 flat over the fast racing strip and. those who backed the Cable colt received 1.80. He was registering his first win of the season. The front quartet became closely bunched on the turn and Cold Jack was the first to become eliminated as he was taken back sharply. Dr. Hab and OHogan were staging a bitter duel as they wended their way past the quarter pole. Hat Box made his appearance at that point and the trio were spread out across the track and heading for the wire. DeSpirito moved Cable Jack to within a length as he straightened the colt for the run to the wire. Responding gamely to the untiring pressure being apllied, the Spinelli colt ranged up on the outside to take command inside the final 20 yards :and was; drawing clear at the end.
