Richards Rides Friseur Today CSpecial to Daily Racing Form NEWCASTLE, County Durham, Ireland, June 25 Reuters. Sir Gordon Richards, Britains famed jockey, arrived here tonight by air to ride Friseur, four-year-old brown French-bred who is owned by the American Mrs. Richard Ryan in the Northumberland Plate, two miles feature event at Gosforth Park here tomorrow. It is understood that Mrs. Ryan will be listening in to the race broadcast in New York. It will be the first time that Richards has ever ridden in this historic race, known to all Northumbrians as "Pitmens Derby." A record field of 20 starters is expected to go postward and Friseur who ran third in the Ascot Gold Vase last week, will probably start as the favorite.
