Senate Passes Bill to GVe Relief to So. Illinois Tracks SPRINGFIELD, 111., June 16. The Illinois Senate passed today and sent to the House, Bill No. 811 which reduces the states pari-mutuel take from 6 to 4 per cent on any racing- day when the mutuel handle is under 00,000. This measure is aimed to give relief to the two southern Illinois tracks, Fairmount Park and Cahokia Downs. There was no opposition to the measure and upon .approval by the House and the Governor will become effective July 1. Sen. George E. Drach R. Spring- field majority whip, called up Senate Bill 590 which would abolish the Illinois State Harness Racing Commission but when the vote was against the measure, he asked for a postponement. As a result, Drach didnt bring up Bill 591 which is dependent on the passage of the other measure and which would create the Illinois Racing Commission to supervise both thoroughbred and harness racing in the event bill 590 passed.
