House Approves Bill for Two 0,000 Illinois Harness Races SPRINGFIELD, 111., June 16. The House of Representatives Wednesday passed and sent .to the Senate a bill di-recting the Secretary of Agriculture to add two 0,000 harness races to the Illi- nois State Fair program which is held in this capitol city annually. One State Fair race would be a free-for-all pace, the other a free-for-all trot for 1 fouiyear-old horses previously eligible for the Illinois State Fair Colt Stakes. ? Rep. Paul Powell D. of Vienna, one of 12 sponsors of the bill, said the purses would be paid from funds derived from a 1 per cent tax on pari-mutuel betting on t harness racing. The fund was "ample" to provide the purses, Powell said.
