EllsworthMExpresses Favorable Reaction to LeRoy Proposal HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood, Calif., June 16. Rex Ellsworth, owner of Kentucky Derby winner Swaps, when informed today of a proposal made by Hollywood Turf Club president Mervyn LeRoy calling for Swaps to meet William Woodward, Jr.s, Nashua in a series of three 00,000 winner-take-all match races, expressed a favorable reaction to the plan. Contacted at his Chino Calif. home, Ellsworth stated that he would be delighted to have his Derby champion meet Nashua, Preakness and Belmont Stakes winner, in the proposed series, one race to be staged at Hollywood Park, the second at Washington Park in Chicago and the third in the New York-New Jersey section. Ellsworth said: "While our present plans for Swaps call for him to run in the 0,000 added Westerner July 9 at Hollywood Park and then be shipped to Washington Park for the American Derby, August 20, we would be very happy to race our colt against Mr. Woodwards Nashua in the three match races, and the sooner the better, while our horses are at their peak. "I think the matches would be a great boost for racing in America and they certainly would determine without question which horse is deserving of the three-year-old championship. We might have to make a few alterations in our plans, but we would be most happy to give Mr. Woodwards horse a chance to even the score for his defeat by Swaps in the Derby.
