Longacres Scheduling Twenty-One Stakes 0,000 Mile on August 28 Heads List for 54-Day Meet LONGACRES, Renton, Wash., June 15. 16. Webb Everett, racing secretary and director of racing at Longacres, will card 21 stakes this season, the richest program in Northwest racing history. There were but six stakes in 54, and the other feature races were overnight handicaps. Piece de resistance, of course, is the 0,000 added Longacre Mile on Aug. 28, which has been doubled in value this season. The 54-day meeting will open Friday, June 24. "Three ,000 added races will be presented the opening week end: Bremerton Cap, five and one-half furlongs, three-year-olds and up, Friday; William E. Boeing Stake, five and one-half furlongs, three-year-old Washington-breds, Saturday, and Tacoma Handicap, one mile, three-y ear-olds and up, Sunday. E. J. McElroys .Tommy, a Washington-bred with an outstanding record in California, is the early favorite for the Bremerton. Trainer M. K. McCaskill is pointing the son of Piccolo directly for the inaugural. Cecil Jolly, who saddled Col. Bob for victory in last years Boeing Stake, could well have the favorite for 55 renewal. Jolly has Big Success in his care. This son of Succession has raced well in California. Jolly, in addition to Col. Bob and Big Success, will have the homebred Waiting Game, rcack major league runner and an archrival of Tommy. The Washington-bred handicap division might be the strongest in the tracks history, which extends back to 1933. In addition to the above, Walt Peltiers Call Call arrived recently and will be ready for immediate action. Call Call, winner of the 53 Washington Futurity six furlongs in 1:09, cracked the track standard for one and one sixteenth miles in the Seattle Handicap, closing day last season. His 1:41 standard was only two-fifth seconds removed from the world record. This year, Call Call won two Inaugural Handicaps at the Phoenix Fairgrounds and at Portland Meadows. He equaled the tracks six-furlong mark in the latter race.
