Fonner Park Honoring City of North Platte Wise Time and Red*Sockeye Head Field Going Postward in Sprint By DEAN WILLIAMS FONNER PARK, Grand Island, Nebr., May 10. — The nearby city of North Platte will be honored Friday at Fonner Park. The feature race at six and one-half furlongs has been titled the Buffalo Bill Purse. North Platte is the birthplace of Buffalo Bill and each year they present a rodeo named in his honor. Omer Halls Wise Time and William Fudges Red Sockeye head a field of eight going to the post in the Buffalo Bill Purse. I They have been racing very well against! j similar company and will be asked to meet Uristic, Bond Carrier, Penbar, Miss Addison and Wainscot. The feature will share the spotlight with the Fonner Park Breeders Special, which , is a sweepstakes for Nebraska-bred three-! year-olds. The five and one-half furlong sprint drew a full field of "eight including Pharos One, Swift Sax, Aganasta, Janes Orphan, Lime Baby, Stubby, Anzio Mullen and Lime Mist. The excellent riding of Bobby Mundorf highlighted Wednesdays eight-race program. The personable young rider rode oth ends of the Daily Double which paid G.OO. Mundorf then piloted Cobra Hella to a short victory in the fourth for the I f second win of the afternoon for owner Ben Fogelson. The Winter, South Dakota, rider also won the seventh and eighth races on the card to gain his fourth and fifth wins of the afternoon. The five wins moved Mundorf into the number two spot in the jockey standings, just two points behind ; Larry Byers.
