T. Burkharts Tempts Image, a homebred daughter of Seven Hearts and Fast Tempo, responded to a hustling ride from Ralph Borgemenke and earned a nose victory here this sunny afternoon in the Fair Phantom Purse. The Burkhart filly was all out at the end of the four and one-half furlongs to trim Mrs. Elizabeth Mucklers Redruth, who held a neck advantage over Clifford Lusskys favored Trading at the wire. Ernest H. Lanes Bolsa lasted for fourth in the field of eight junior misses contesting the juvenile dash. Tempts Image raced the Fair Phantom distance over the fast track in :53%. Redruth Unable to Hold On Trading and Wendy K. went quite wide entering the stretch and Redruth reached the lead but the latter was unable to withstand Tempts Images closing bid and just missed. Trading closed determinedly when straight for the drive but she simply could not overtake the top pair and the loss of ground at the final turn unquestionably cost her victory. Wendy K. held on fairly well through the last eighth mile but lost the fourth portion of the purse to Bolsa oy a nose. Carl M.
