BRIEF REPORT was always formidable, held a slight lead on the final turn and into the stretch, but was no match for the winner. WAR BISCUIT was rated close to the pace, but failed tc secure room along the hedge entering the stretch, then was-sent through a narrow opening between horses and wore down horses. HONEY BIRD could not attain command early and lacked a rally. WHIRLING FLEET weakened. PIPING ECHO flattened out badly. NEXT BEST stopped badly.
