Valley Forge Assured Ten Starters Five Candidates Tabbed in Trials Skipper Bill, Commodore M., Gaidar, Our Gob, Mr. First Test Garden State Footing GARDEN STATE PARK, Camden, N. J., May 10. — As many as 10 proven middle distance runners may battle it out in Saturdays 5,000 added Valley Forge Handicap at Garden State Park. Of those candidates on the grounds Darby Dan Farms Skipper Bill, C. L. DuPuys Gaidar, Calumet Farms Commodore M., Eugene F. OConnells Marys Bubble, Castle Rock Farms Mr. First, Jet Stables Weal or Woe and Ruffalo Brothers Our Gob are considered definite starters. Elk-cam Stables Ifabody, Mrs. Eugene E. Bank-heads Chit Chat and A. J. OConnells Tonys Chance are not out of the picture. The latter would race as an entry with Marys Bubble. Should this prove the starting lineup, Skipper Bill, under 112 pounds, would be the highweight of the field, with Gaidar at 111 and Commodore M. under 110, next in line. Marys Bubble, Mr. First and Weal or Woe are under equal imposts of 108, with Our Gob assigned one pound less. Gaidar Works Half Mile This morning five potential starters were on the track. Gaidar stepped four furlongs in :48%. Our Gob went five panels in 1:01, and Skipper Bill accomplished the same distance in 1:02%. Commodore M. was extended to six furlongs and breezed the three-quarters in 1:16. Mi-. First went four furlongs in :49. Gaidar and Our Gob have the dubious distinction of having finished second and third, behind Swaps in his "worlds record performance at the mile and 70 yard Valley Forge distance. The engagement this morning of jockey Earl Van Hook to ride Gaidar followed the assignments of Willie* Hartack aboard Commodore M., Sam Boulmetis astride Weal or Woe, Charlie Burr on Mr. First and Walter Blum on Skipper Bill. Unknown quantities at the moment are the out-of-town possibilities. In this category are Mrs. Ethel D. Jacobs Joe Jones, Alfred G. Vanderbilts Find, C. V. Whitneys Brown Hackle, Maine Chance Farms Jet Action and Cockfield Stables Le Beau Prince.
